I installed Kubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) and needed to install
thunderbird-gnome-support *and* add entries for network.protocol-
handler.app.http and network.protocol-handler.app.https, setting both to
/usr/bin/firefox. I suspect that Kubuntu doesn't install thunderbird-
gnome-support by default but I'm not sure why the Thunderbird config
editor needs additional entries. Presumably Thunderbird doesn't differ
from Ubuntu (GNOME) to Kubuntu (KDE).

But at least this works.
