OK, can you please attach the output of the following command in a text file: lspci -vnn Also, please post (as an attachment) the version of xorg.conf that you are trying to use. I am assuming we are dealing with the computer that has the ATI Radeon card, not the S3? Also, since this Radeon card is so old, you should not be using restricted drivers - did you ever attempt to install fgrlx drivers? If so, they need to be removed.
