I have an encrypted root, home, tmp and swap partition created during
installation. After installing evms or libpam-thinkfinger, the machine
asks for the passphrase and then boots to busybox. I don't know the
exact message.

I wasn't able to determine the problem other than both packages modify
initramfs / initrd.img. I would guess that any modification to
initrd.img by a package install would cause the same issue.

I have sensitive data that I would like to have encrypted, but with this
issue I cannot take the chance of installing a package and having it
render my notebook unbootable. I really need swap, tmp and home to be
encrypted so that they are inaccessible. Until then, I have moved all my
data into a Truecrypt container, run a script to securely wipe /tmp but
have not found a reliable way to completely wipe the swap upon reboot.

I consider this a high priority issue that needs immediate attention for
those of us users that require a high level of security for our data.

I backup my system regularly and would be willing to test any patches. I
consider myself an intermediate to advanced user.
