I´m new to Ubuntu and have installed 8.04.1 on my Gigabyte MA790FX-DS5 / AMD 2.8 DC x86 and am having the same problems as listed above.
First time I put a new floppy in 8.04.1 it wouldn´t mount, despite the light being constantly on ? (tried access via Places / Computer).
