Just to add here, it's really difficult to determine exactly which part of "x" this is from, but the laptop display just isn't recognized. Again 5.10 correctly recognizes it, but 6.06 or higher with a clean install won't. Upgrading from 5.10 will retain the monitor settings.
I've also noticed Kubuntu 5.10 is the same, and 6.06 versions won't correctly install either, but, Kubuntu allows you to select a monitor.
