I can not stress enough, in case someone from Canonical is listening, you will never master bugs like this, if you don't have proper information about the hardware involved!
And there is only one way to assure you have that information: Create a tool to collect the information on the host system. Enable launchpad to attach this information to ones user account. I would then have several machines HW data attached to my account. When I report a bug, I would select which machines are affected. Developers then should be offered a way to collect a list of affected HW from the bug report. I have posted an idea for this at brainstorm and a wishlist bug report in launchpad and statements like this in several other bug reports. But still Canonical/Ubuntu devs seem to prefer doing wild-guessing instead of investigating with the proper tools! Canonical should fund the development of this tool and it should be made available to ALL projects and distributions for best results. http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/1497/ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/3382 -- ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
