Thank you for your bug report. This problem actually don't affect Hardy
8.04 final release or 8.04.1. If you can reproduce any problems with one
of these releases, please open a new bug report with more details.

If you want to correct the wrong resolution settings in your
/etc/usplash.conf, you should follow these steps :

1. Look at your current screen resolution in System / Preferences / Screen
Resolution
2. Write that resolution in /etc/usplash.conf instead of the current one.
3. Update initramfs with "sudo update-initramfs -u"

If problems persist, use this method from within a graphical Xorg
environment (GNOME, KDE, XFCE..) :

1. Open a terminal.
2. Type "sudo apt-get purge usplash"
3. Type "sudo apt-get install usplash"
3a. Or if you prefer to keep this metapackage installed, type "sudo apt-get
install ubuntu-desktop" (kubuntu-desktop or xubuntu-desktop for variants).

If problem still persist, please open a new bug report with more
details.

Thanks for your contribution to ubuntu.
