Just installed Xubuntu 7.10 on a relatively ancient PC with a P3 and 256MB RAM
with Windows dual boot.
Completely new to Linux/ Ubuntu so struggling a bit with this.. But have done
some basic UNIX work before...
What I see is that in a sequence of 6 boots I saw this problem occurring
alternately. Two kinds of boots:
a. Slow: Would drop out of the splash screen, show the scrolling text
and "Loading hardware drivers... [fail]". It didn't hang but took 14
mins to get to the login screen
b. Fast: All find, progress bar on splash screen would reach the end and
get login screen in 3:30 mins or so.
A bit bugging that I got Xubuntu on this so that it would work faster,
but Win 2000 is booting and loading up apps and docs faster!!
So what happens next with this?
