Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org
When I attempt to do an File -> Open and enter a valid URL OO writer is ignoring the protocol and always attempting to open the file via the file system. To repeat: 1) Go to the File -> Open dialog 2) Enter any valid URL - i.e. http://www.google.com/ 3) You will get a dialog indicating that writer is attempting to stat() (a worthless error message for a regular user btw) a file that includes some predefined prefix with the URL you entered appended to it, minus a second slash after the transport protocol.
