I can confirm this problem on my EeePC. A little more detail though. I installed Ubuntu 8.04 with an external USB mouse attached. When booting the laptop without a USB mouse I can use the trackpad in the login screen, but when I login as the user created upon first installation it stops working. Creating a new user and logging in works, and the mouse is usable.
