In hardy GNOME with genpo 0.9.6+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2, menu, and menu-xdg packages installed, I did not experience the described issue with not showing additional items in the menus. Installing the update gave genpo an icon in the Debian menu, and did not appear to affect genpo operation.
