Thanks for the help Chris. Attached file "testresults 080702" sequentially shows the outcome of the tests however I am unsure about how to interpret the logs regarding this investigation.
I don't quite understand how to look for the "process with the command line '/usr/bin/perl /usr/share//system-tools- backends-2.0/scripts/SystemToolsBackends.pl -m UsersConfig'" I have a basic knowledge of processes (ps and top) but am not sure how to capture a transient process. Could you please clarify. Apologies for changing the bug status - is there any guide which shows what Launchpad details can be changed by the various categories of users?
