tx Mike :) i reported this bug because in the lxde ppa page there is a list box that allows to choose between three apt sources.list entries, and hardy is one of the possible choice. so the lxde ppa page suggests that there is a repository not only for intrepid and hardy, but also for gutsy. i was wrongly supposing that the lxde ppa repository manteiners were the ones also directly responsible for all the ubuntu lxde packages i will try to submit this bug directly to the lxde ppa team.
