It is a tough one. And I do agree, if I read this right, when a user opens the browser they may not want their mouse/typing go down to the google box. But I guess this depends on the level of the user?
1. Level One - low level user Open Browser and type in http://www.yahoo.com cause they really think you have to type the whole thing in. So they would then have a second step at this point where as if the mouse was in the Firefox URL area it would fill this in. 2. Level Two user - bit more higher end a. may use book marks? b. may default to home page of say mail.yahoo.com (but what if the ubuntu start page could pull in the users book marks) c. Or rather just type in yahoo.com and go right there in the firefox url area 3. Higher end user just types in Firefox url, and sees this as in convenience. But could use this page to their advantage if it was setup right? So one thing may be to get rid of the google search box and show a quick help to the user "Just start typing and the browser will help you out?" <--needs work ( -: Then the content below and to the right left is more about help and features. -your bookmarks? <--if this is local on the computer this may work else not really possible unless it can call to the users book marks. -daily tip? -- FIREFOX START PAGE: Focus pulled to start page Google box https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239831 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
