** Description changed: With the fglrx driver enabled on up-to-date Hardy (same problem occurs with the cutting-edge envyNG driver), desktop effects work almost normally. However certain effects show up as white boxes rather than actual windows. I have attached a screenshot of the Shift Switcher plugin doing this. I played around with ccsm, and have determined that enabling mipmaps causes this to happen, and disabling them lets compiz work normally.
