Public bug reported: On a fresh install of Hardy with encrypted root (sda2_crypt) and swap (sda3_crypt), updating the kernel from 2.6.24-16 to 2.6.24-19 breaks the boot process. I'm asked for the passphrase for sda2_crypt like before but after that boot process drops into plain b/w console (no more progress bar nor Ubuntu logo) and modprobe complains:
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/kernel/drivers/crypto/padlock-sha.ko FATAL: Error inserting padlock_sha (/lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/kernel/drivers/crypto/padlock-sha.ko): No such device Then the boot procedure goes on correctly except I'm once again asked for the LUKS passphrase (without mention of the associated volume). ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kernel update breaks encrypted volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244550 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
