In a duplicate (#243595) of this bug there is this comment: "I disabled "Dim display when idle" in both AC and BAT on Gnome Power Managment and it works OK. No need for kernel paramaters though. I'll keep testing."
I did this on Intrepid Alpha 1 and to my surprise i can't reproduce the bug anymore by unplugging my powercord or leaving my laptop for a few minutes untouched.
