Thanks for reporting this issue and helping to make Kubuntu better. I am not sure what exact theme you are referring to. Please provide the themename and versions for the appropriate packages.
Furthermore, taste is something that allows people to argue for a long time without coming to a conclusion. KDE offers additional themes that should be automatically installed. Furthermore, additional themes for both KDE and Firefox can be found on the Internet. Nothing stops you or your user to use such a theme that is more appreciated by your taste. In addition, all our efforts are currently targeted to get KDE4 stable for the October release. Neither the KDE developer nor the Kubuntu developers have currently planned to fix anything but essential security problems in KDE3. Thank you for your suggestion.
