A common problem with many lenovo notebook computers appears to be that
there is a switch for lenovo laptops intel audio drivers that has to be
manually enabled.

In the file '/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base' you enable audio on a Lenovo
laptop by adding a line 'options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo' then either
reload, or restart alsa ('sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-tools restart' might do
it) and audio should start working.

If there is a 'bug' it would be that the installer or the hardware
recognition software is not recognizing the lenovo variety of intel
sound cards, and either adding the line itself, or offering to try that
setting.
