Hi Thomas, When I reported bugs against 4.0, the commenters suggested that I install 4.1, so I did. Catch 22.
I removed xserver-xgl, and that didn't help. I can't enable desktop effects - it says that I don't have composite and something else enabled. I have a top of the line nvidia, and nvidia-glx- new binary drivers, so I'm reasonably sure they should work.
