Actually, this should be specifically a request for 1.5.5-1, as that is the latest Debian/Ubuntu package. Ubuntu Intrepid never had the source package LyX 1.5.5 in the first place (LyX 1.5.5-1 was auto-synced from Debian unstable).
Normally, since LyX 1.5.5 is a bugfix, this would not be eligible for backporting. However, please note that the bug only occurs when hardy- backports is enabled, therefore the fix should appear in hardy-backports as well.
