I too have this problem (lack of sound). At least with VLC and Movie Player. Movie player says it can't find an appropriate codec before it starts playing. I assume it means audio codec because the video plays just fine. My test movie is the Amazon clip from Microsofts WMV site. Plays fine on XP, both video and audio. -Arto
