Has nothing to do with nvidia. I don't have a nvidia card(never had one) and I use to experience this problem. After upgrading to hardy, i kept expereincing the same problem. Soon afterwards it disappeared. The problem seems fixed on my laptop. Personally, I think it has something to do with heat. I beleive when the internal heat gets high, some pcs/laptop shut down some components.
