Here is a new Debian->Ubuntu debdiff. This debdiff doesn't mention closed bugs in the merge changelog entry. I also bumped the Standards- Version to 3.8.0, and I was able to successfully build the package. Looking back at 1.0.5-2ubuntu2, I was unable to find any change to the source or debian directory. As a result, I have removed those changes from my merge entry in debian/changelog.
