Bryce, I tested the non-xcb-enabled packages locally - the openoffice
that was previously failing with such message

now stopped doing this. So the solution seems to resolve startup issue.
The only thing that is not OK - now the openoffice crashes when closing
it:

I am not sure if the dependant packages (like openoffice.org-kde) should be 
rebuilt to fix this.
