This is for sure not a bug in HPLIP, as desktop applications do not interact with HPLIP. Only CUPS starts filter and backend from HPLIP. The applications communicate only with CUPS to be able to create a printing dialog with the list of all available printers and the printer-specific options for each printer.
To get an idea what goes wronf here, please try to print from a non-GTK application, like OpenOffice, org. If this works most probably GTK is broken, if OOo also does not work it can be a problem of CUPS. Moving to GTK for now. ** Changed in: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: hplip => gtk+2.0 Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Freeze while requesting cups printer details https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241728 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
