@ Chris Cheney: I too have tried what you recommend, but it doesn't really work. I get the exact same error after reboot. BTW, I used apt-get purge instead of apt-get remove, in order to get rid of all config files. I have also deleted ~/.openoffice.org2, just to make sure it was 100% clear. Based on the bug reports that are duplicates of this one, it seems to me that this is only happening on the user account that made the updates.
