I have to agree with jfjellstad and bugmenot, the wording is pretty confusing. I assumed that what came up with as default was the prior action, that it would update menu.lst with the new kernels at the top of the AUTOMAGIC section. I think better wording for "Install package maintainers version" would be "Add new kernels to menu.lst" if that is indeed all it does. "package maintainers version" makes it sound like it's going to blow up any customizations you've done to it, obviously not what any of us really want.
