This happened to me when my updates switched me from Firefox 3.0 Beta to 3.0 released (two days ago). It may helpful to note that if I sudo Firefox from the console, it works normally; i.e. it does find my bookmarks, etc. If I start Firefox from the console as normal user, though, I see this message:
(firefox:20016): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed. So presumably it has to do with permissions or authority having been changed by some update or other. -- bookmarks are gone, I can not add bookmarks or import bookmarks backup, the toolbar does not work, the buttons back, then update are broken, the bar gives direction errors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226165 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
