Public bug reported: Ubuntu 8.04 upgrade kernel to 2.6.24-19-generic, rebooted, got "computer running in low graphics mode" wizard, reconfigured to Nvidia 8 graphic card and 1600x1200. no matter what I do Xserver will only start X at 800x600. finally rebooted using previous kernel 2.6.24-18-generic, Xserver started ok at 1600x1200, only thing changed was selecting kernel. That was when I found out (when going to /boot/grub/menu.lst to comment out the kernel) that my keyboard layout had been changed to USA from UK. there may be other problems I have not yet found, but I can say that wifi and sound seem to be working ok on the 2.6.24-18-generic kernel, just as before the kernel upgrade.
