I build xserver-xorg-video-mga-1.4.2 on Edgy from Debian unstable package and it fix the problems I have experienced since my upgrade from Dapper.
I found out that the framebuffer trick improve things further (GoogleEarth doesn't work without it even after upgrading the package). I am using a MATROX G550 AGP. I also found out that this bug prevents me for using wine, see : https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/64705 Please upgrade the package before Edgy goes out since it causes real regressions from Dapper to Matrox card users.
