Public bug reported: With my Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT, whenever the driver is updated instead of being able to reboot fine, instead I see the Nvidia driver's splash screen, filled with artifacts. For some reason, I am also unable to SSH in when this happens. I am able to use xfix to get the open source driver working again, and if I use synaptic to uninstall linux-generic, and then reinstall everything to do with the Nvidia drivers, and then install linux-generic again, it appears to work.
** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nvidia driver/kernel update results in strange, artifact-filled Nvidia logo display unless Nvidia driver installed before kernel. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240742 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
