I have a zd7000 and also experienced these issues. Because of unrelated hardware problems to be fixed soon I have stopped using it which is why I am asking the question rather than just figuring out for myself.
ubuntu just sent the kernel 2.6.24.19 through apt. If the overheating is a kernel issue, has anybody noticed a difference after the upgrade? Also, do you the development team need any more streams of user output/input or testing?
