Yes; in my case, nmbd no longer shuts down when the network is disconnected. The only way I could get it to shut down was to specify "bind interfaces only = true" and "interfaces = lo". Using "bind interfaces only = true" and "interfaces = ath0", where ath0 is connected to the network but disabled through NetworkManager, nmbd waits until ath0 comes up and starts functioning normally.
