I'm reopening this bug, as I can also confirm this bug on Ubuntu 8.04 „Hardy“.
This bug can be confirmed in both modes:
1. Run Gedit, choose File->Open Location (CTRL+L) and write ftp address of the
file you wanna open (eg. ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/incoming/intel_xv_attr.diff
2. Go to Places->Connect to server... , connect to needed ftp server (I've
tried ftp with password) and open some text files from ftp server.
Result is always the same - file is opened in read-only mode, but I've full
access to ftp server :(
Other software, for example Bluefish editor opens file in read-write
mode - I've opened file successfully through File->"Open URL..." in
Bluefish !!!
