I'm experiencing the same problem using Thoggen under Edgy. It isn't necessary to hit refresh to trigger this. Simply opening nautilus to a directory containing a file that is being updated, and then immediately closing the nautilus window or changing to anther directory (like home) does the same thing... the CPU usage will shoot up to near 100% and will stay there till the process is killed (with "killall nautilus" or the like).
