Unfortunately the problem is still effecting the usefull implementation of Ubuntu. There is still a bug in the system somewhere.
I have noticed that the primary effect of the lockup is with the mouse input so this may be a clue to where the gremlin is. The keyboard has some minor functionality however this is not enough to be of much help.
