** Description changed:

- I have the same problem on a Gateway P-6860FX, except the mute button
- seems to have no effect. When I hit the mute button, I do get a "mute
- on" and "mute off" message. The mixer window does not show any channel
- being muted though.
+ I have the similar problem as some people who have already submitted
+ bugs, I'm unsure if this is actually a dupe or not (better to be safe?).

- The volume up and down buttons control PCM, instead of master. The
- volume goes up and down and I successfully get a box showing the volume.
- In my case, this seems to be good becuase if I mute or change the volume
- to the master channel, I continue to hear sound at whatever PCM's volume
- level is set at.

I started off by putting Hardy on this laptop, so I have no idea if the
- bug has been recently introduced or not.
