If I put a CD-rom Nautilus will pop-up with the contents of the CDROM if I put a Data DVD or Movie DVD (unencrypted) it will do nothing. if I put a blank CD-ROM it will do nothing The chipset is a Via chipset If I mount a Data DVD i get ~$ sudo mount /dev/dvd mount: No medium found I replace the cable with an 80 pin cable but no change If I remove the DVD drive with the DVD in it and plug it into the 2 gutsy boxes I have here and boot them up then every thing works.
