I can confirme these effect - it's triggered by today updates of the packages:

The effect is activ in the compiz-desktop only, by typing 'metacity --replace' in the console/terminal correct head of the windows will be shown after a new login (restart gdm). -- The close, max and min buttons have vanished from the right side of all windows.
