Hi Thomas, after reading your last comment I tried the workaround (amd74xx and via82cxxx modules) a second time. That works now. At my first try it didn't, probably because I used the wrong module-version - sorry for that.
I can also confirm that the 40-wire-cable is the reason in my case. After changing to a 80-wire-cable everything is working fine with the pata_amd-module, too. Connecting the 40-wire-cable I need the amd74xx module. With the correct cable the installation of hardy is also working fine. So I agree with you, the bugs are identical.
