I've just checked the versions of wpasupplicant in ubuntu:

wpasupplicant | 0.6.0+0.5.8-0ubuntu1 | gutsy | source, amd64, i386,
powerpc
wpasupplicant | 0.6.0+0.5.8-0ubuntu2 | hardy | source, amd64, i386
I have checked the diff between the packages: http://patches.ubuntu.com
/by-
release/atomic/ubuntu/w/wpasupplicant/wpasupplicant_0.6.0+0.5.8-0ubuntu2.patch,
but none of the changes are likely to cause this regression. I therefore
can only conclude that this is a regression in the iwl3945 driver (that
is used in hardy) as compared to the ipw3945 (which was used in guty).
I'm therefore reassinging to the kernel.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
