I myself just tried creating the file /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945 with the content mentioned above and it worked. As I understand it, it's only a temporary fix until bug is fixed at the root (am I right about that?). In any case since the fix works so can it be included in the default package even if it is temporary. It would at least keep people new to linux from switching back to windows (as what almost happened with my girlfriend since it is her laptop on with the wireless adapter doesn't work). I am sure it would be greatly appreciated by many people.
