Mario, thanks for the reply. I will contact upstream lirc as you suggest. I have managed to apply the patch I linked to above and get my remote working using lirc (found out c is a lot like php which I do write). Hopefully the patch will be applied to the lirc drivers and eventually make its way back downstream to Ubuntu. If I am successful in getting the lirc patch applied, should I contact someone at Ubuntu to ensure that it is included with future releases or at least included in the Ubuntu repository?
