Public bug reported:

I have a Toshiba satellite A100 and the wireless network adapter doesn't
work at all with hardy. The problem occurs with any of the kernel-image-
generic packages released since hardy. It worked with the old kernel
2.6.24-14-generic and the ipw3945 proprietary drivers. This bug seems to
be related to Bug # 193970 but in my case the state of the kill switch
doesn't make any difference( the network just never works). The error
message shows when I dmesg | grep 3945 :

[ 41.135877] iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection
