It isn't broken so I am closing this report. Xv normally uses overlay output 
which directly sends the image to video card memory so gnome screenshot 
couldn't capture it (

 ) Windows has the same problem. 
This issue shouldn't appear with textured video (Bug #213532) but it isn't 
usable right now at least on i915 hardware and according to some bug reports on 
i965 too (Bug #152206). You could of course use X11 output per default but it 
needs much cpu and has huge pixel.
