It works after openoffice.org-java-common is installed. However the package is not installed in a default Hardy installation. OpenOffice does not really crash, there's just no way out of this alert box. You can hit "ok" a million times and the alert box will reappear over and over again. All you can do is kill OO with a high chance of data lost.
