I have exactly the same problem on Hardy and also had it on the last version of Ubuntu.
I'm using a Plantronics M3000 Bluetooth headset and when I searched on Google, I found some others with my headset, having the same problem. My Bluetooth dongle is unbranded, but works fine with my Nokia N70 phone. However, I can't connect to my Palm T5 PDA either...
