Public bug reported: Since the update to some package or another on 3 June or 2 June, my laptop has taken to suspending whenever the power is disconnected. I'm running 8.04 (fresh install on new HD) after having the same problem with 7.10 (however, recovery from the suspend always took a lot longer then it does now). When it goes to suspend, it goes to a green screen with a flashing _ cursor in the top right.
It looks to be similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /acpi-support/+bug/157467 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-power-manager/+bug/50094 reported for 7.10. When running "gconftool -a /apps/gnome-power-manager 2>&1 | tee /tmp/gconftool.log' as suggested in the second report, I get: action_button_suspend = suspend can_suspend = true suppress_suspend_warning = true Running 'lshal -m 2>&1 | tee /tmp/lshal.log' and then pulling the plug produces attachment one.
