Hello, i recently installed Ubuntu Hardy - amd64 bit and i experienced
nasty things with the wireless. First i followed the 1st thread about
BCM94311 with the firmware extraction bfw-cutter or something like that
(don't remember exactly because now i am in windows writing this post,
:) ), and worked in the first time.... after 1 or 2 weeks i noticed that
the link was lost after 20 or 30 minutes even in good signal
situation... but i thaught it was interference from the microwave oven
or the wireless phone that works in 2.4 GHz also.... but the thing i
couldn't explain was that ubuntu freezed up and no keyboard response and
manual shutdown had to be done.... the freeze issue happened very often,
like 2 in 2 hours or so... depending (and that i figured out later) on
the internet usage i performed... first i thaught that was azureus, but
after uninstalling it... freezes continued... and i read that there were
many problems with BCM4311 and found that running "dmesg" will give
info... and i found like 100 lines containing something like "b43-phy0
ERROR - transmission error" and a message that i was using an old
version of the firmware... but i'm sure i used the newest. now i
disabled wireless modules and stuff and ubuntu does not hangs....

Need Help.... also read about problems with "ssb" module and "b43" being
together or some error in the order they are loaded...

Thanks,

Santiago.-
